Faculty of Health and Life SciencesThis new full time post is available from 3 June 2024 on a fixed term basis until 31 August 2025 (with a possibility of extension, subject to approval)The postThe Faculty wishes to recruit either a Graduate Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr Martin Eichmann. This Helmsley Charitable Trust funded post is available from 3 June 2024 to 31 August 2025. The successful applicant will be isolating and characterising beta-cell-reactive T cell receptors to identify those with potential to be used for therapeutic application in beta cell disorders.The post will include:

  • Determining sequencies of human beta-cell-reactive T cell receptors (using single cell RNAsequencing).
  • Expressing and characterising identified human beta-cell-reactive T cell receptors (using lentiviral electroporation methods, and cell-based assays).

About youThe successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.Applicants for the Postdoctoral Research Associate role will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to culture human cell lines, generate lentiviral products and employ standard immunological assay (including flow cytometry); and have a good understanding of immunology and/or beta cell disorders.Applicants for the Graduate Research Assistant role will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
