Grants Manager, Jamaica
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Grants Manager for an upcoming Increasing Resilience of Island Economies activity in Jamaica funded by USAID. The anticipated program will strengthen communities, key economic sectors and Jamaica’s enabling environment to prepare for climate change and disasters.
The Grants Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation and management of the grants portfolio and related procurement, subcontracting, and monitoring, as well as ensuring compliance with both ACDI/VOCA and donor regulations, processes, and best practices for grants management. The Grants Manager is expected to demonstrate strong communication, planning, time management, and coordination skills, both with internal team members and external stakeholders. The program is anticipated to start in 2025 and this position will be based in Kingston, Jamaica.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall development and management of a project grants portfolio with support from the project senior leadership and home office staff
- Prepare grant solicitations, lead and manage the grant evaluation process, draft grant award documents, monitor grantee deliverable/milestone progress, and lead grant close out process while adhering to donor compliance regulations in coordination with the COP, technical and MEL teams, and home office staff
- Establish detailed systems and procedures for management of grants activities, including a grants tracker in collaboration with the finance team
- Develop and review grant budgets, prepare cash forecasts, and monitor grant expenditures in collaboration with the finance team members
- Conduct mandatory training for all grantees including but not limited to financial and technical reporting requirements
- Prepare due diligence reports for each selected applicant in conjunction with the finance team
- Conduct grantee site visits as appropriate with the MEL team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, business, economics, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
- Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a senior level finance and/or grants position at an international development organization.
- Demonstrated strong communication, planning, time management, and coordination skills, both with internal team members and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of and experience with USAID’s rules and regulations, and with current standards and guidelines regarding grants is preferred.
- Experience in institutional strengthening and working with rural communities preferred.
- Experience working in Jamaica required.
- Fluency in English is required.
