Job description
Cranleigh STEM is working with an exciting cleantech start-up in Cambridge, who are currently recruiting for a newly created Head of Commercial role. You will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company’s commercial strategy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving revenue-generating partnerships, securing funding, and ensuring alignment between R&D objectives and broader business goals. They will also act as a key representative for the company, engaging with investors, multinational corporations, and government agencies.Head of Commercial key responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies that convert initial commercial agreements into revenue-generating or investment-based partnerships.
- Lead UK and European grant funding efforts.
- Align R&D objectives with commercial strategies by leading strategic meetings with R&D leaders.
- Drive lead generation and represent the company externally with investors, multinational corporations, and government entities.
- Provide strategic input and contribute to high-level discussions within the senior management team.
- Act as an individual contributor with the vision of expanding the Commercial Team through successful project delivery.
Head of Commercial requirements
- Highly driven and ambitious, with a strong ability to commercialise breakthrough technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of the energy storage market.
- Exceptional presentational and analytical skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc/PhD in a relevant field preferred.
- Prior experience in an energy storage startup is advantageous.
- Experience in capital markets and green technology financing is beneficial.
- Established track record of commercialising innovative technologies.
- Proven experience in R&D, commercial, or sector-relevant investment roles.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a management role.
- Experience with intellectual property (IP) is desirable.
- Previous experience in commercialising electrical energy storage technologies is preferred but not essential.
