The Head of Conservation is a pivotal role at RWT, providing leadership within a team of expert
delivery staff and evolving project teams, while devising and developing opportunities with the
Chief Executive, colleagues, and external partners to ensure that RWT’s work is continuously
increasing nature’s diversity and abundance. You’ll work closely with the team who manage all
of RWT’s nature reserves this role will also work to expand our influence beyond our borders at
exemplar sites including Gilfach, Wilder Pentwyn, Tylcau and Mynydd Ffoesidoes by building
relationships with farmers, landowners and communities.
You’ll work with the Reserves Team on nature reserves to showcase demonstrations of how active
management for nature provides natural solutions to society, facilitating economic and social
prosperity, allowing the public and key partners to engage with this approach.
As the leader of a team and a collaborate colleague across departments within RWT the Head of
Conservation will play an important part in role-modelling positive behaviours. The successful
candidate will be as empathetic as they are intelligent, being good-spirited whilst committed.
With knowledge and experience of managing teams within the environmental sector the successful
candidate will be motivated by having the opportunity to demonstrate that nature’s recovery is
not only possible but essential and urgent. You’ll be driven to evidence and communicate this
to a wide range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will continually seek to improve their
work and that of RWT through continued professional and personal development and the promotion
of new ideas and approaches amongst the team and the wider movement.
