Head of Design and Technology – Highly Regarded Croydon Secondary School (Starting January 2024)We are a leading education recruitment consultancy working with a highly regarded secondary school in Croydon, South London. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Design and Technology to lead their thriving department (full-time, permanent position).About the School:Our client school boasts a strong academic reputation and is committed to providing a well-rounded education that nurtures both intellectual curiosity and practical skills. Design and Technology plays a vital role in their curriculum, and they seek an exceptional leader to further develop and elevate this area.About the Role:

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Design and Technology department, setting the strategic direction and ensuring its continued success.
  • Develop and implement a stimulating and comprehensive curriculum that aligns with national standards and ignites students’ passion for design and innovation.
  • Lead a dedicated team of Design and Technology teachers, providing mentorship and fostering their professional development.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Design and Technology department, including budgeting, resources, and health and safety.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and implement strategies to continuously improve learning outcomes.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues across the school to ensure a cohesive learning environment.

We are seeking an individual with:

  • A relevant degree in Design and Technology or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a minimum of 5 years’ successful teaching experience in Design and Technology, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a demonstrable track record of driving improvement within a Design and Technology department.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for design thinking, problem-solving, and fostering creativity in students.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate young people, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
