About the role

This is a key role in the University’s Planning and Council Secretariat (PACS) department, leading across a broad range of areas relating to planning. This includes ensuring that planning activities across the University (including student number planning, resource allocation forecasting, and strategic planning both for the central University and across the academic divisions) are coordinated effectively.

In addition, the post holder will have a key role in coordinating planning and strategy across the University’s central administrative services, including in respect of digital strategy and a broader service reform agenda. You will also be closely involved with work to implement the University’s data strategy, helping ensure an evolving business intelligence capability is aligned to planning and operational needs.

You will work closely with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Planning and Resources, the Chief Financial Officer, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor People and Digital, and the Registrar in carrying out these responsibilities.

This is a key role in the University’s administration and an ideal opportunity to develop a senior-level career in higher education administration at a time of significant externally and internally driven change.

About you 

You will be in possession of a degree or equivalent experience, and be able to demonstrate:

•   very strong intellectual and analytical skills;

•    the ability to work collaboratively and to gain the trust and confidence of, and to influence and persuade, people at all levels, and to manage relationships with multiple stakeholder groups;

•    excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present and explain complex information to a formal group such as a committee;

•    experience in managing and motivating a professional team to deliver complex pieces of work to a high level of accuracy within tight deadlines; and,

•    the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of complex issues in a challenging environment, including experience of doing so in respect of strategic and financial planning within a complex organisation.
