About the Swiss Finance Council:
The Swiss Finance Council engages in dialogue around policy and regulatory developments in finance at a European and international level. It represents the interests of internationally active Swiss financial institutions (banks and asset managers) and facilitates sharing of experience, expertise and knowledge with EU authorities, including through a permanent representative office in Brussels. It articulates and advocates the common interests of its members, provides a voice for their joint positions and a source of knowledge and experience in finance for policy makers and the industry at large.
Job Description:
For its office in Brussels, the SFC is looking for a Head of Policy & Advocacy reporting directly to the Managing Director. He/She will support the Managing Director in the development and implementation of the SFC policy, advocacy and engagement strategy. In addition to the coordination role, the Head of Policy & Advocacy will be responsible for policy work related to asset management and potentially other selected files/policy topics. He/She will also deputise the Managing Director whenever necessary.
Main Tasks:
- Taking the lead of policy work in asset management regulation and potentially in other specific thematic areas;
- Organising and contributing to SFC working groups;
- Supervising and coordinating the work of the policy team according to the set priorities and strategy;
- Providing strategic advice and guidance to the members on regulatory opportunities and risks taking into account the relevant political environment;
- Supporting the Managing Director in her tasks whenever required;
- Developing relationships with key EU officials and stakeholders, strengthening cooperation with allies and seeking new partners to enhance the SFC’s visibility.
Experience Required:
- Asset management knowledge and experience are desired;
- Minimum 8 years of experience in EU-level policy, regulatory or governmental affairs within the financial sector;
- Proven experience in regulatory and policy positioning and advocacy at international level;
- In-depth understanding of the challenges that the financial sector is facing, ideally across EU and 3rd countries;
- Track-record in senior stakeholder management;
- Preferably team management experience.
Skills:
- Strong time-management and organisational skills;
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to familiarise quickly with new and complex topics;
- Pro-active and collaborative personality with the ability to act in a dynamic environment;
- A flexible attitude to work combined with an autonomous working style;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing in English/Being fluent in German and/or French is an advantage;
- Professional use of Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
