Head of Religious Education (RE)We are proud to represent a thriving secondary school within a large Academy Chain in Croydon, South London, seeking an inspirational and experienced Head of RE to join their dedicated team.About the SchoolThis high-performing school fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment where all students can flourish. They are committed to academic excellence and believe that RE plays a vital role in developing critical thinking skills, cultural awareness, and spiritual growth in their students.About the RoleAs Head of RE, you will be responsible for leading the department with vision and dynamism. You will play a pivotal role in:

  • Shaping the Department’s Vision and Direction: Developing a stimulating and engaging RE curriculum across all key stages (KS3 – KS5) that aligns with the school’s ethos and national curriculum requirements.
  • Inspiring and Motivating Staff: Providing strong leadership and fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment where teachers can thrive.
  • Delivering Exceptional RE Lessons: Igniting students’ curiosity about different religions and philosophies through high-quality, engaging lessons.
  • Raising Standards and Achieving Excellent Outcomes: Monitoring student progress, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing effective strategies to ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Contributing to the Wider School Community: Leading RE clubs or trips and actively participating in school initiatives that enrich the lives of students.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in RE or a relevant subject with demonstrable experience teaching RE.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience teaching RE at a secondary school level.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead a team of teachers.
  • A strong track record of raising standards in RE and achieving excellent student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for RE and a commitment to fostering a stimulating learning environment for all students.
