This will involve coordination, provision of technical support for policy and strategy development, quality assurance of implementation and other support to provincial government agencies, and civil society groups to advance the UNFPA mandate.
The Provincial Head of Sub-Office is responsible for ensuring results-based management of the work plans at the provincial level and conducting policy advocacy, exploring opportunities for building partnerships and leveraging/ mobilizing resources, and representing UNFPA as and when assigned by the Representative.
Job Purpose:
In a highly complex operating environment, you will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging population issues and to facilitate programme delivery.
You will be expected to analyze relevant political, social and economic trends in Sindh province and to provide substantive inputs to programme design, project formulation and evaluation, joint programming endeavors and national development framework.
You will substantively contribute to the effective management of UNFPA activities in Sindh province in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, family planning, youth, population and development, gender-based violence and harmful practices, including in humanitarian contexts, monitoring results achieved during programme implementation and guiding the appropriate application of systems and procedures.
Requirements
Education:
Advanced university degree in Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, Public Health, or related Social Science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in developmental work, with 5 at international level
- Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, precision and accuracy;
- Demonstrated ability to refine programme design and to ensure alignment of organizational programme objectives to national priorities/capacities;
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams to achieve demonstrable results;
- Excellent communication skills to foster partnerships at a high level of representation and to maintain political partnerships in the assigned country;
- Strong interest in development work, especially the mission of the United Nations Population Fund and dedication to the principles of the United Nations; and.
- Field experience is a strong asset.
- Willingness to work in non-family duty station and high security risk environment.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
Responsibilities
A.Programme Coordination
- Coordinate the results-based management of workplans in Sindh province for the UNFPA Country Programme.
- Facilitate the design, implementation and monitoring of provincial response programmes in the areas of emergency sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence.
- Provide substantive contributions to the implementation of the One UN Programme in Sindh in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, family planning, youth, population and development, gender and gender-based violence.
- Supervise the conduct of programme monitoring and assessment missions to programme sites, and and assist in establishing a full-fledged monitoring and evaluation system in the provincial office.
