The roleThe University of Bristol is seeking a Head of the School of Arts who can provide inspirational leadership to the School and its staff, students and partners, enabling the School to develop further its excellent education and research.The School includes research and teaching programmes across Anthropology and Archaeology, Film and Television, Music, Philosophy and Theatre, and the right candidate will work collaboratively to develop a strategic vision for the School, which aligns with strategic priorities for the Arts, Social Sciences and Law Faculty as well as the wider University.What will you be doing?

  • You will deliver, to a high standard, the managerial and administrative duties associated with the role of Head of School, working with the School senior management team.
  • You will lead the School in developing its strategy in line with the University’s Vision and Strategy 2022-2030.
  • You will develop a sustainable School in terms of staffing, space and budgets, including championing investment needs, particularly to support work linked to creative technologies.
  • You will be able to enhance the global reputation of the School by consolidating and developing exciting teaching programmes and research portfolios across the School’s constituent disciplines that meet and anticipate global societal needs.
  • You will provide leadership for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the school, working to support and champion this in meaningful ways and lead the School to submit for an Athena Swan accreditation.

You should apply if

  • You are a full professor and able to demonstrate and develop your own capacity as an internationally significant researcher.
  • You have a recognised and strong leadership track record and the ability to develop an engaging and inspiring strategic vision across the school.
  • You are adept at building productive and collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels, and demonstrate and encourage excellent partnership working between academic and professional services staff.
