Job Description:UE06 – £33,882 – £39,105School of Biological Sciences – College of Science and EngineeringFull Time- 35 hours per weekFixed Term – ASAP for 10 monthsThe Opportunity:We are looking for an enthusiastic Health and Safety Assistant to provide maternity cover within the Biological Sciences safety team.This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.The opportunity has arisen to join the Health and Safety team, to assist with the management of health and safety within the School, working as an integral part of the team to promote high safety standards, engaging with staff and students across the School and taking the lead role for management of radiation safety. This post offers a chance for someone who is interested in pursuing a Health and Safety career to explore this field and gain valuable experience in a wide range of areas.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Qualification in a relevant scientific background with a good knowledge and experience of scientific and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge and experience in general safety procedures and completing risk assessments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • A proven ability to assess problems and take appropriate action with the flexibility and resourcefulness to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to develop in a health and safety career.
