Health Program Officer / Idleb – Bab Alhawa

JOB SUMMARY

JOB PURPOSE:

The Project officer will report to the program department and is responsible for following Emergency project activities, and reporting the overall project details including in progress, interim and final reports. The project officer must work within the Program Management Act, Municipal policies and procedures and in compliance with all Islamic Relief Acts and Legislation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of health projects inside Syria.

  • Conduct needs assessments, monitoring, and evaluations for implemented projects or other assigned projects.

  • Prepare work plans and schedules for project activities.

  • Coordinate with local and international partners, including NGOs and other agencies collaborating with IR in Syria.

  • Coordinate and implement day-to-day activities with stakeholders in the field.

  • Track program progress through monthly work plans, reporting on activities, and addressing challenges and achievements in monthly meetings.

  • Provide immediate reports on stock levels of medications and medical consumables in health centers.

  • Develop and implement distribution plans for medications, disposables, and laboratory supplies, ensuring efficient and equitable resource allocation based on assessed needs.

  • Inspect medical supplies to verify their conformity with BOQ requirements.

  • Curate procurement lists for medical supplies based on needs assessments and periodic reports.

  • Raise timely requests for medical needs according to stock levels.

  • Ensure compliance with international pharmaceutical standards in the selection and distribution of medications.

  • Provide regular reports on pharmaceutical activities, including dispensing, stock levels, and distribution.

  • Collaborate with the health program team to communicate findings and contribute to program improvements.
    To carry out other responsibilities and duties as requested by the line manager.

  • Ensuring the integration of safeguarding and protection measures into all medical program activities.

  • Monitoring compliance with safeguarding principles by teams and partners during the implementation of activities.

  • Providing training and awareness sessions for program staff and partners on safeguarding policies and reporting mechanisms.

  • Maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity regarding safeguarding concerns.

    QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
    • Pharmacy degree.
    • Minimum 3 years of related experience in the Field.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal & technical skills.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
    • Ability to take initiatives if required.
    • Ability to multi-task effectively as well as display professionalism and confidence.
    • Good IT and language skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure, with short time frames, and in risky situations.
    • Able to visit and network with health facilities in accessible areas inside Syria.

    Language

  • Fluent in both Languages English & Arabic (written and spoken).

    IT skills

  • Very Good computer skills.

  • Proficiency in the internet and search tools.

  • Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting. (Excel and word is a must)
