The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and administering workplace health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. This role takes a proactive approach to safety, driving continuous improvement and fostering a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and is solution-oriented in the face of challenges.Key Responsibilities:Promote and support a positive safety culture across the organizationEnsure compliance with all health and safety regulationsDevelop, update, and maintain health and safety policies and programsConduct workplace inspections and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as neededLead incident investigations and provide reports on safety performanceOversee the Joint Health and Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with regulationsManage PPE programs, safety documentation, and training recordsCoordinate emergency response plans and employee training for fire drills, evacuations, and first aidAdminister Return-to-Work programs and manage injury claims with relevant stakeholdersProvide health and safety training, including new hire orientationWork with department managers on hazard assessments and safe work proceduresEnsure confidentiality in handling sensitive employee and safety-related mattersQualifications & Skills:Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, HR, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)1-2 years of direct health and safety experience preferredKnowledge of workplace safety legislation, regulations, and best practicesExperience in incident investigation, workplace inspections, and risk assessmentsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Certification or willingness to obtain First Aid, WHMIS, Forklift, Confined Space, and Lockout trainingExperience with project management or building security is an assetValid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for any work-related travelAbility to pass a background check
