The services are required to keep missions and trips running where there is an exponential increase in the number of missions and trips inside Libya.

Duties and Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, tile incumbent will carry out the following duties: 1. Shuttle service to transport staff members to various destinations as required. 2. Check road maps, conditions of roads, and be aware of alternate routes in case of emergency. 3. Identify the best routes and those to be avoided; follow and monitor Security advice both on radio and email. 4. Undertake advance trips to various places where VIPs are scheduled to travel. 5. Liaise with relevant individuals for easy access of the VIP to offices/residence of senior Government officials and other diplomats, as needed. 6. Assist in collecting and delivering documentation to and from UN agencies, local authorities, NGOs and other concerned government offices. 7. Liaise with Dispatch Supervisor on issues relating to the maintenance of vehicles, including daily entries in vehicle logbooks and ensure that vehicles are cleaned and fueled. 8. Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept clean. 9. Operate Armored SUVs, Ambulance, and Medium Buses to safely transport passengers within the mission area. 10. Assists the workshop in the preparation of vehicles for field trips, such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and general check-over. 11. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in light and Heavy vehicles is required. Experience in driving armoured vehicles is desirable. Experience in international transport is desirable. Experience in passenger dispatching is desirable. Technical knowledge in vehicle repair and maintenance is desirable. Possession of valid official national commercial driving/operator license (category B&C) is required (copy must be submitted together with the application). Knowledge of Heavy Vehicles/Truck driving and experience in operating Material Handling Equipment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in Arabic is required and knowledge of English is desirable.
