You’ll contribute to the management of high yield bond portfolios through fundamental credit analysis of companies across a variety of sectors with a focus on North American issuers. This will involve financial modeling, actively assessing the credit worthiness of current holdings and the identification of investment opportunities in both the primary and secondary markets. You’ll also contribute to the team’s portfolio construction and decision-making process and contribute to marketing and client servicing efforts as well as various ad hoc analyses, projects and ESG efforts.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How you’ll succeedCredit analysis – Conduct rigorous credit analysis of investment opportunities and ongoing due diligence of portfolio holdings.Financial models – Construct and maintain financial models with forward projections and issuer credit summaries.Industry analysis – Conduct industry analysis and form fundamental views of assigned sectors.Relative value analysis – Perform relative value analysis of assigned sectors and form views on both relative value and total return potential of individual investment opportunities.Collaborate – Actively collaborate with other team members, analysts, and portfolio managers within CIBC Asset Management.Relationship building – Establish and maintain relationships within the leveraged finance community, including sell-side analysts, sales coverage and traders.Who you areYou give meaning to data. You possess strong credit analysis skills. This includes the ability to analyze and assess the business and financial risks of a company.You can demonstrate experience in leveraged finance markets, particularly the U.S. high yield bond market.Technical skills. You are proficient with MS Excel and Bloomberg.You have a degree/diploma or a completion of a related undergraduate degree or MBA. It’s an asset if you are a CFA chart holder or pursuing it.You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey information in both written and verbal formats.You’re motivated by collective success.
