Horticulture Apprentice

Salary: £8.60/h (national apprentice wage + £2.20/hr) in year one, increasing
to the applicable age-linked National living wage in year two. Plus pension contributions of 9%

Contract: Fixed term for 2 years

Location: Gosling Sike, Carlisle

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to gain qualifications, learn new skills and
develop your overall experience and knowledge in the world of Horticulture.

The role will provide and enable on-the-job training and college work required to complete the
nationally recognised level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship through Myerscough College.

The Horticulture Apprentice’s main role is to support the Horticulture manager working at
Gosling Sike wildflower nursery in ensuring the effective and successful management of a busy
wildflower nursery. The will involve hands-on practical plant work, day-to-day nursery duties,
working with volunteers, and dealing with the public.

Working alongside our dedicated team of volunteers this role would suit someone who has good
organisation skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work and communicate with people of
all ages is also important.
