The program currently consists of five hospitalist lines covering 7-15 acute patients. The standard work week is 7 days on and 7 days off; however, open to discuss alternative scheduling such as weekend coverage, evening/overnight shifts, partial weeks, half days, etc. VRH is a close knit and very collegial site, providing ample support and a rewarding work experience.VRH opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia. Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. The facility completes approximately 5,800 cases/year with 800 deliveries/year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.Services:

ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:

• be accountable for management of your panel of hospitalist patients
• provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level heath care
• operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
• participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities

Expected Hours

• The standard work week is 7 days on, 7 days off – open to discuss alternative scheduling such as weekend coverage, evening/overnight shifts, partial weeks, etc.
• Full line and half line available. Frequency can be negotiated.
• 8 am-5 pm daily, 7 days a week for the week you are scheduled
• Remuneration is a daily rate with a call rate per night on a weekend or weekday, plus fee-for-service billings for anyone seen after 5 pm and before 8 am
