HR Officer Mentorship and Engagement

The Talent Development team in the Division of Human Resources (DHR) is responsible for global learning and career programmes and strategies covering core learning and management, career development, leadership , and HR capacity development. The team builds organizational capacity through the delivery of these programmes and strategies to ensure UNICEF meets its strategic directives. In 2024, the team is focusing on the following priorities: building a culture of continuous learning, peer-to-peer learning through mentorship and facilitated conversations, enhancing workplace culture, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and communication on learning and career initiatives and their related impact, coordination and partnerships through the development of a learning eco-system, and HR capacity strengthening. Moreover, as part of the ongoing transition and transformation initiatives at DHR and UNICEF, the team is working to strengthen its provision of agile, global learning and career solutions to equip staff to effectively respond to the evolving context and demonstrate UNICEF’s core values.

With a shift towards peer-to-peer learning, including mentorship programmes, an HR Officer (Mentorship & Engagement) is required to support the Talent Development team in strengthening user experiences and global engagement with mentorship and other learning programmes.  The HR Officer will also work to enhance communication, evaluation and reporting of various learning initiatives, to achieve agreed objectives. The HR Officer will also contribute to the design and development and support the implementation of learning programmes.

Overall direction, vision and strategy for the work and the contribution of this role will be provided by the HR Manager of Management & Core Learning, Talent Development team.

Key Functions/Accountabilities:

  • Work with offices globally and relevant consultants to ensure that the mentorship programme learning content (including digital content) is engaging and designed to result in identified learning expectations, utilizing a range of resources to enhance understanding and impact.
  • Ensure that user-friendly, appealing and informative peer-to-peer virtual learning collaboration spaces are in place for learning participants
  • Support the UNICEF Global Mentoring Initiative and act as the Global Coordinator for selective corporate mentoring streams. Develop products to strengthen on-the-job learning and learning transfer, including infographics, videos and digital workbooks.
  • Provide guidance on and contribute to the development of evaluation and report products.
  • Support the promotion of learning programmes through targeted digital communications and marketing strategies, to increase participation/engagement and highlight UNICEF’s diverse career paths and learning options for staff.
  • Support the development of content for Talent Development communication initiatives, including articles, factsheets, and online content.
  • Supporting in the scheduling and organization of programmes.
  • Contribute to the design and development, and support the implementation of learning programmes.
  • Other activities as required.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • First level university degree (Bachelor’s) in Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Digital Learning or instructional design.

Work Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design, and communications is required.
  • Experience in developing digital, virtual and online learning materials.
  • Professional experience and expertise in graphic and multimedia design including and developing engaging learning materials and reports.
  • Professional experience in digital communications and marketing including developing, implementing and monitoring digital communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with social media.
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience with digital and online communications software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey and digital community platforms.
  • Proven ability to research, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong interest in human resources and experience in staff capacity development.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required.
