Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and results-driven HR professional to join the Strategic HR Partner in providing comprehensive strategic and operational HR expertise and support to the Faculty of Engineering. This exciting opportunity will allow you to utilise your generalist HR background, excellent people skills and HR knowledge in a partnering capacity, to provide high level people management, support and development to our departments while embedding the corporate vision for HR.
You will be joining an established faculty-facing team with high ambitions to deliver a flexible, proactive, innovative, customer focused and excellent HR service. You will also be working collaboratively as part of a wider team of highly experienced HR professionals across the different areas of HR to provide a “voice of the customer” to colleagues.
This is a varied, busy, and complex environment which will require you to work closely with departments to develop and deliver HR plans and allow you to use your extensive HR skills to advise, influence, coach and engage with managers and staff across the faculty and the wider HR team.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of local strategies for attraction, retention, engagement and development of people by understanding the business.
- Assist departments in their people related projects and any College wide projects assigned.
- Resolve sophisticated departmental challenges through people related solutions.
- Support the Strategic HR Partner with the development of strategy/plans and objectives that will deliver results reflecting environmental demands, best practice and that promote ED& I.
- Provide support and advice and collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise, OD & EDIC teams and the Staff Hub.
Essential requirements
To be successful in this maternity cover role, you will need to possess the experience, knowledge, and relationship building skills that will lead to you making an immediate impact. You must have a demonstrable track record of delivering high quality and specialist HR advice and support to managers and staff with a clear focus on delivery of goals and excellent customer service.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
