INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT & INNOVATIONSESSIONAL LECTURER – WINTER 2025This position is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.The Master of Forensic Accounting Program is a 10-course program offered at the graduate level, primarily on a distance education basis, using a problem-based learning model supplemented by web- and email-based sessions. The Program currently has the following Sessional Lecturer position available for the Winter term and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students. Earlier courses have provided foundational material about what a forensic accountant does. IFA1901H examines the conduct required of a forensic accou5tant for a successful professional career. Important topics and cases covered the cycle of an IFA engagement, including: the role of and expectations for forensic accountants; professional ethics, dealing with clients – engagement definition, conflicts, planning; dealing with staff – scope of work, supervision, collection and analysis of evidence, file documentation, use of email, drafts; report types, content considerations, and preparation, litigation privilege, privacy; expert witness and similar roles.IFA 1901H will be taught online in 8 once-per-week, interactive sessions, 3 hours in length, followed by an invigilated examination in the 9th week. There will also be an individual assignment and a group assignment.Position description:
Instructor
As the Instructor in the course, you will be responsible for liaising with the MFAcc Director and/or his nominee when required. Responsible for new program development as per the requirements of the curriculum mapping. Marking assignments and the examination in accordance with the marking guide developed in conjunction with the Instructor, and in accordance with the grading policies of the University of Toronto. Providing feedback to the Director and/or his nominee, for each assignment. Providing a final marks list to the Director within two weeks of the final examination. Meeting with students on-line for three hours per week for 8 weeks using the Program’s Quercus system. Answering emails from students on a short-delay basis at other times during the week, as required. Providing feedback to students on assignments through the MFAcc Office within two weeks and in accordance with the standards set for the MFAcc Program. Consultation with the Director and other Instructors when appropriate.Minimum qualifications: Preferred qualifications are either PhD in relevant discipline (completed) or for non University of Toronto graduate students, in progress, or relevant qualifications, professional designation or professional experience. We are seeking previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, and mastery of subject area.
