Terms of Reference (ToR) for Consultant – Writing Discussion Briefs from Webinars

Consortium for Scaling-Up Climate-Smart Agriculture in South Asia (C-SUCSeS) Project

Background

The C-SUCSeS project seeks to advance climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices in South Asia by fostering regional collaboration and scaling evidence-based technologies. As part of the project’s knowledge-sharing efforts, a series of webinars on CSA has been organized to disseminate findings and facilitate discussions among key stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

To ensure the insights and discussions from these webinars are effectively captured and disseminated, IFPRI seeks to hire a consultant to write comprehensive discussion briefs summarizing the key takeaways, policy recommendations, and actionable insights.

Objective of the Consultancy

The consultant will be responsible for drafting high-quality discussion briefs for each webinar conducted under the C-SUCSeS project. These briefs will synthesize the main points of webinar, its discussion session and highlight expert insights for advancing CSA in South Asia.

Scope of Work

The consultant will:

  1. Review Webinar Content: Watch recordings of webinars, review relevant materials (e.g., presentation slides, background documents), and take detailed notes.
  2. Draft Discussion Briefs: Write concise, well-structured briefs summarizing the main discussion points, insights, and recommendations from each webinar.
  3. Coordinate with the Project Team: Work with the project’s research team to align on key themes, ensure accuracy, and finalize drafts.
  4. Format and Finalize: Prepare the briefs in a professional format, adhering to IFPRI guidelines, and incorporate feedback from the team.

Deliverables

  1. Draft Discussion Briefs: A draft brief for each webinar to be submitted within 10 days of receiving webinar materials.
  2. Final Discussion Briefs: Revised and finalized briefs incorporating project team feedback, submitted within 5 days of receiving comments.

Timeline

  • The consultancy is expected to begin immediately upon signing the agreement and will run for a duration of three months or until the required briefs are completed.

Required Qualifications

  • Background in agriculture, environmental science, or development related academic field.
  • Proven experience in writing concise and engaging briefs, summaries, or reports.
  • Excellent English writing skills and ability to synthesize complex discussions into clear, actionable points.
  • Familiarity with South Asia’s agriculture and food systems is preferred.
