The Ministry is responsible for developing and evaluating curriculum; teacher development and certification; supporting students with diverse learning needs; funding and supporting school boards; First Nations, Métis and Inuit and Francophone education; and overseeing basic education policy and regulations.For more information on the Ministry of Education, please visit: .Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Program Implementation Manager, but working closely with the Implementation Lead, the Implementation Advisor supports complex curriculum and career education related projects and works collaboratively with their team to support the operations and overall functioning of the branch.The Implementation Advisor supports the development and implementation of high-quality Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) curriculum that is in alignment with The Guiding Framework for the Design and Development of Kindergarten to Grade 12 Provincial Curriculum (The Guiding Framework).The Implementation Advisor actively works with internal and external stakeholders (including cultural and other community leaders) to:

  • support stakeholder communications and engagements focused on classroom piloting and implementation initiatives and supports for curriculum and career education;
  • contribute to the preparation of meetings with school authorities and other partners to develop shared understandings and strategies that respond to local and provincial needs and challenges related to curriculum implementation;
  • work with education stakeholders, including post-secondary institutions, to ensure data submissions are on time, accurate, and reliable; and
  • review input from stakeholders to inform potential changes to piloting and implementation processes and supports.

The Implementation Advisor contributes to effective branch operations by:

  • liaising with the Engagement and Data Governance Consultant to gather data to inform advice on emerging issues, opportunities, and challenges related to the piloting and implementation of K-12 curriculum and career education;
  • supporting the creation of detailed project plans;
  • developing recommendations to support continual improvement of Branch functions and maintain awareness of processes, tools and best practices that can be tailored to meet Branch requirements; and
  • leading the collection and management of information in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP) and responding in a timely manner to FOIPP requests related to curriculum implementation.

The Implementation Advisor supports the implementation and continuous improvement of processes related to classroom piloting and curriculum implementation by:

  • establishing performance measures and actively monitoring key performance indicators to inform continuous improvement in curriculum development and implementation;
  • working with the Engagement and Data Governance Consultant to draft data-driven reports, analyzing key findings and making recommendations to the Program Implementation Manager; and
  • leading the development, administration, and maintenance of templates, databases and user-friendly technology-based systems and resources to track and manage information relating to the implementation of K-12 curriculum and career education.

Role Responsibilities ContinuedThe Implementation Advisor monitors achievement of implementation objectives and priorities by:

  • supporting the Implementation Lead and Program Implementation Manager to meet priority deliverables by developing processes, including project plans/critical paths, to track curriculum implementation and career education projects;
  • reviewing and analyzing varied qualitative and quantitative information to identify progress on achievement of implementation priorities; and
  • compiling reports to demonstrate achievements within the branch to inform public reporting related to K-12 curriculum (through the department’s annual report, the department website and other public reporting).

QualificationsUniversity graduation in Public Administration, Education or a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Ministry’s business plan, strategic priorities, mandates, and programs
  • Knowledge of curriculum implementation models and engagement practices
  • Strategic planning experience with strong analytical skills for evaluating business/performance results and applying the results
  • Ability to apply theoretical research methods and analysis tools to practical settings
  • Ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of data, apply statistical tools effectively, and access and manipulate statistical databases
  • Excellent communication and human relation skills to request information, consult with Division leadership and external stakeholders, collaborate with staff throughout the Ministry, and problem solve when information is not supplied
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills
  • Knowledge of computer information systems, software applicable to word processing and spreadsheets, information management, data quality principles, best practices & processes for planning/reporting.
