About the Role

Edge Hill University is seeking to appoint independent members to our Board of Governors. The Board of Governors is a significant part of our University community. It has oversight of the educational character and mission of the University with specific responsibilities for institutional sustainability, financial probity, and the effective use of resources. As the University is an exempt charity, governors are also trustees of the charity.

We are looking for candidates who have a high level of commitment to, and interest in, higher education and to the further development of Edge Hill University. Applications would be particularly welcome from candidates with relevant experience and expertise in:

• Digital infrastructure
• Finance (particularly taxation, pensions and/or audit)
• Employment law 
• PR, marking, communications or digital media
• Knowledge exchange or commercialisation

The role of Governor is not salaried though reasonable travel expenses may be paid. Meetings are normally held on a Monday, starting at 17:30, and governors can expect to attend in the region of eight meetings per year plus one full day strategy session in January. Some governors also attend committee meetings, which are usually held on the same day.
