Background and Purpose:
The South Asia Private Sector Cluster within the UNICEF South Asia Regional Office (ROSA) in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking an Individual
Fundraising Consultant to carry out specific fundraising support for Country Offices (CO’s) in the South Asia Cluster (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka).
This role will be critical for the South Asia Cluster to deliver their 2024 Private Sector Plan (PSP) targets and to develop high growth targets as part of the future strategic plans. The consultant will work directly with the South Asia Cluster Chief, CO’s teams and teams within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP), as well as agencies managing the individual fundraising activity. In addition, the consultant will work internally with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that the systems and databases available are up to speed to support results.

Reporting to the Chief Income Hub for South Asia, and working closely with the wider team including CO’s and teams in PFP, the consultant will:
- Coordinate the strategic planning, development, and implementation of individual fundraising activities within the countries in order to optimize fundraising and revenue potential with a key focus on optimizing and developing pledge acquisition channels, driving the team in becoming digital first, and improving pledge retention and lifetime value (LTV).
- Work closely with the countries to implement the annual work plan and budgets for individual donors. Monitor and facilitate the implementation of fundraising strategies and work plans to achieve targets.
- Develop, implement, and manage all individual donor reporting and analysis required in order to strategically grow income.
- Work with CO’s to ensure high level investment in Individuals fundraising is implemented and planned for future years.
- Maintain intelligence on the latest developments in the market, including successful techniques being used within UNICEF to acquire customers/ donors and maximize LTV, and the plans and activities of competitors. Implement best in class learnings in CO’s.
- Coordinate the testing, assessment and implementation of new streams of fundraising in a systematic and robust way.
- Coordinate the development of creative, generating, engaging and inspiring fundraising materials for every channel within the IG remit – including Face-to-Face, DRTV, and digital donor recruitment and donor retention and including written and visual content and including telephone scripts.
- Manage the development and optimization of donor journeys to maximize donor engagement and drive all metrics related to retention and lifetime value maximization.
- Work with the BI specialist on the optimization of the Salesforce database and donor insights to direct donor communications strategies and plans.
Deliverables:
1. Monthly report to include all CO’s, Cluster and test markets and outlining Individuals KPI’s v target Year to-Date (YTD); delivered at the end of the month (from June to December 2024).
Note: This consultancy is an office based for approximately 7 months. The selected consultant will travel to India and Bangladesh two times each and will be paid in actuals. Education:
- An undergraduate degree in one of the following fields: Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management, or another relevant technical field plus a minimum of five years of qualifying experience.
- Alternatively, 15 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the following fields: in Private Sector Fundraising, Management or another relevant technical field is required.
- Must have experience and understanding working in developing markets for UNICEF and / or an INGO.
- The candidate must be a highly experienced fundraiser with proven success of delivering multimillion dollar targets and multiple deliverables, of setting up a fundraising operation and infrastructure, building up and leading a large team to successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding and translating abstract ideas or concepts into actionable steps.
- Proven experience working in a multi-cultural environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver on common goals.
- A strong understanding of fundraising systems i.e. Saleforce, Marketing Cloud or other CRM and content management systems.
- Proven experience working in a multi-cultural environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver on common goals.
- Experience working in Asia considered a plus.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
