Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.Your rolePlan, assign and review the work of a group of people, as well as vet and coordinate all information shared among the various departments concerned.Coordinate support for day-to-day operations related to regular production as well as special projects for the Information and Corporate Services Support Team.Assist the Montreal News Support Team manager in achieving client and T&I business objectives.Description of duties
- Plan and assign the work of the people reporting to you, based on priorities, volumes, deadlines, special requests, etc., and vet it to ensure its compliance with corporate standards, policies, procedures, etc.
- Organize work schedules to ensure that the service is provided seven days a week in rotating shifts, in compliance with the relevant articles of the collective agreement.
- Check and validate your direct reports’ timesheets, expenses, petty cash vouchers, etc.
- Develop team members’ technical skills and knowledge of the business.
- Suggest process enhancements to help departments become more efficient.
- Keep abreast of technology and workflow changes that could have an impact on team activities.
- For special requests or projects, hold information-gathering meetings with clients and inform the manager.
- Perform all other duties related to the position of IT Officer.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:Qualifications
- College diploma in computer science or a D.E.P in computer support
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience providing onsite and telephone IT support
Competencies
- Solid team management and coordination skills
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and train team members on their use
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail, sound judgment, initiative and self-starting approach
- Strong analytical skills and willingness to consider all potential solutions to problems
- Critical mind (challenging ideas and suggesting new ones)
- Ability to manage time and priorities under stress
- Client service focus
- Past experience as a manager or team leader an asset
- Good process analysis and workflow design skills
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Willingness to travel within Canada (and potentially abroad)
