Do you thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments where your expertise can directly enhance the performance and readiness of emergency communications professionals?Reporting to the Manager, Learning Design & Delivery the Instructional Designer collaborates with Subject Matter Experts to create effective curriculum, implement instructional strategies, and monitor the performance of Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) Operators to identify needs for refresher training for continuous improvement, and to assess learner readiness for advanced training opportunities.WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Collaborate with operations subject matter experts to research, develop, and deliver engaging classroom, virtual, and e-learning training using adult learning principles
  • Analyze tasks and objectives to design comprehensive course materials for instruction, testing, and participant engagement
  • Validate course content provided by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for accuracy and completeness; identify and close information gaps
  • Develop end goals, learning objectives, and assessments for staff training using a variety of tools and technology
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure training resources are organized and up to date
  • Works closely with the Manager, Learning Design and Delivery, to set project timelines and choose optimal instructional methods (in-class, virtual, or e-learning)
  • Monitor performance data and feedback to identify refresher training needs; provide coaching and actionable recommendations
  • Work with internal teams to evaluate quality assurance data, analyze performance trends, and make training recommendations
  • Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders to recommend enhancements to boost productivity
  • Design instructional graphics and develop training materials, including exercises and interactive content
  • Create supporting materials such as audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games to enrich learning
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions, as well as train-the-trainer programs
  • Grade exams, conduct quality assurance evaluations, and assess course effectiveness to ensure knowledge transfer
  • Attend court to provide evidence when necessary
  • Perform additional related duties as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Certificate in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related field; equivalent combinations of training and experience considered
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as an Instructional Designer designing and facilitating individual, classroom, and virtual training sessions for adult learners
  • Proficiency with visual design tools (e.g., Canva, Synthesia) and adherence to branding standards
  • Experience with LMS platforms and e-learning authoring tools; familiarity with Articulate 360 is a plus
  • Call center or emergency communications experience is highly desirable

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 3-5 years.To qualify for this process, a candidate may be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen.   • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Wage/Salary: PG 25 | $44.25 to $52.19 hourly; $92,040 to $108,555 annually (2024 rates)
