The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time probationary position at the rank of Instructor I, commencing September 1, 2024, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development in Organic Chemistry. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated expertise in Organic Chemistry (e.g. relevant teaching experience, Ph.D., publications in organic chemistry). Duties include undergraduate teaching, including live lecture, lab-based instruction, and service-related activities. Additional duties may include pedagogical, course and lab development. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a track record of outstanding teaching contributions, curriculum development, and work in a collaborative environment with diverse students.

The Department currently has 21 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 10 Instructors and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Department has well-established and equipped teaching and research facilities such as microwave reactors, X-ray diffractometers, NMR spectrometers, thermogravimetric analysis, electrochemical equipment, IR spectroscopy, gas-chromatography mass spectrometers and high performance liquid chromatography instruments among others, and is supported by strong links with other University of Manitoba departments including Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Biological Sciences and Civil Engineering. Instructors and faculty members receive strong support by the University’s Centre for Teaching and Learning.
