Work Location
This internship is a full time internship for a maximum of 6 months and designed to be in-person in Nairobi, Kenya
Expected duration
6 months from June 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This position is located in Governance Affairs Office in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at the Nairobi duty Station. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Information Systems Assistant, the intern will perform the following duties: – Support preparation in website updates a) Adding and editing accredited organizations to the website b) Uploading documents to repository c) Editing contents of civil society webpages – Support Registration processes of the various meetings including working on the list of participants; – Develop and conduct a Series of Client Satisfaction Survey – including analyses to feedback to the clientele – especially the Committee of Permanent Representatives; – Support effective communications with governing bodies, member States and their Permanent Missions to UN Environment in line with UN mandates and guidelines – Support follow-up on the update and management of the resolution’s portal – Provide administrative support to Governance Affairs Office; – Other tasks, as requested.
Qualifications/special skills
Undergraduate studies in Application Development, Information Technology, Computer science, Information Systems a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or c. Have graduated with a university degree
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
