College of Biomedical and Life SciencesThis is an exciting opportunity to be a member of a National Institute for Health and Care Research-funded study teaming working aims to understand safety, risks and the balance of harms and benefits arising from care received by patients within their own homes. The study is led by Professor Andrew-Carson Stevens, Professor of Patient Safety, at Cardiff University.The successful candidate will work with closely with Professor Andrew Carson-Stevens and colleagues from the School of Medicine, the School of Law and Politics, and the Centre for Adult Social Care Research (CARE) at Cardiff University, our public contributors, ENRICH Cymru and University College London.They will work independently, with support from Research Assistant, to carry out a realist review of literature surrounding home-based care and its safety, lead stakeholder focus groups and interviews with key respondents, and interviews with service users and informal/unpaid caregivers. This role will also include dissemination activities and involvement with publications and conferences.The successful applicant will work closely with a team of clinical academics, social care representatives and public and patient contributors with a focus on discovering what good caring outcomes are within a home-based context. They will be based at the Heath Park campus, Cardiff University.Applicants should have considerable experience of conducting research both independently and collaboratively, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of realist synthesis and realist methods.Key skills and experience include the proven ability in effective and persuasive communication and the proven ability to support research groups, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to study timelines.Interested potential candidates are welcome to contact the Study Manager, Dr Joy McFadzean, Clinical Lecturer of Patient Safety, Division of Population Medicine, School of Medicine, Cardiff University: to arrange an informal discussion prior to application.This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term available from March 1st 2025 until February 28th 2027.Salary: £51,039 – £55,755 per annum (Grade 7)
