School of PsychologyWe are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work within the School of Psychology.The main duties will be to co-design and build a whole-of-cycle online resource to support people undergoing fertility treatment cycles. The website will be informed by the evidence generated in Phase I of the grant ‘A Novel systems approach to reducing the psychosocial burden of infertility treatment’ and co-designed with knowledge end-users (e.g., patients, partners). The website will contain separate but complementary sections for patients, partners, and families/friends. The work will include analysis of data from Phase I (requiring intensive longitudinal analysis and multilevel modelling); writing resources for patients; developing the whole-of-cycle intervention; designing interactive online content; managing website and app build including liaison with technicians; and conducting several rounds of testing with consumers. The position requires experience developing complex online psychosocial interventions for vulnerable patients and will require someone with clinical expertise (e.g. psychology).For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Jacky Boivin, email at boivin@cardiff.ac.ukThis post is full-time (35 hours per week), fixed term until the 31st May 2026 and is available from the 1st June 2025, based in the Cathays Park site in the School of Psychology.The majority of roles at Cardiff University are currently operating under “blended working” arrangements, with staff having the flexibility to work partly from home and partly from the University campus depending on specific business requirements. Discussions around these arrangements can take place after the successful candidate has been appointed but a minimum of three days per week in the School of Psychology will be expected.Salary: £40,247 – £45,163 per annum (Grade 6). To conduct research within women’s health and contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University, carrying out research leading to the publishing of high-quality research. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch

• To conduct research within women’s health aligned with the research programme ‘A Novel systems approach to reducing the psychosocial burden of infertility treatment’ and contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University by the production of measurable outputs including bidding for funding, and publishing in national academic journals and conferences, and the recruitment and supervision of postgraduate research students.
• To develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research including research funding proposals
• To attend and or present at conferences/seminars at a local and national level as required
• To undertake administrative tasks associated with the research project, including the planning and organisation of the project and the implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• To prepare research ethics and research governance applications as appropriate
• To review and synthesise existing research literature within the field or from the research programme ‘A Novel systems approach to reducing the psychosocial burden of infertility treatment’
• To participate in School research activities
• To build and create networks both internally and externally to the university, to influence decisions, explore future research requirements, and share research ideas for the benefit of research projects

Specific Duties

• To co-design and build a whole-of-cycle online resource to support people undergoing fertility treatment cycles. The website will be informed by the evidence generated in the grant ‘A Novel systems approach to reducing the psychosocial burden of infertility treatment’ and co-designed with knowledge end-users. The website will contain separate but complementary sections for patients, partners, and families/friends.
• To engage with patients, partners, and families/friends in the co-development of the website
• To attend meetings with the Australian research team or stakeholders (patients, partners, families and friends) which could involve early morning (7am) or early evening (7pm) UK meeting times due to 12-hour time difference

Other

• To engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations, professional institutions, other academic institutions etc., regionally and nationally to raise awareness of the School’s profile, to cultivate strategically valuable alliances, and to pursue opportunities for collaboration across a range of activities. These activities are expected to contribute to the School and the enhancement of its regional and national profile.
• To undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to the specificities of the role and which will enhance performance.
• To participate in School administration and activities to promote the School and its work to the wider University and the outside world
