1. Background
Al Mezan is a leading Palestinian non-governmental human rights organization based in occupied Gaza, established in 1999 to promote and protect human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT). With a primary focus on economic, social, and cultural rights, Al Mezan is dedicated to safeguarding and advancing the rights of the Palestinian people through legal initiatives, advocacy, and documentation. Our mission is to uphold the human rights of Gaza’s residents and to advocate for accountability and justice for the Palestinian people.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

Advocacy Strategy Development and Implementation
- Draft and edit press releases, reports, statements, and submissions, including to UN bodies.
- Support strategy development, planning, and implementation of international advocacy strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, objectives, and key priorities, focusing on Palestinian rights and related issues.
- Monitor global policy developments, emerging trends, and advocacy opportunities regarding the Palestinian cause, human rights, and international humanitarian law.

Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Represent Al Mezan in international forums and vis-à-vis international organizations, including the United Nations and its agencies, to advocate for Palestinian rights.
- Prepare and submit reports, legal submissions, and communications to UN bodies, special rapporteurs, and other international organizations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support submissions to international bodies.
- Build and maintain relationships with international stakeholders, including governments, multilateral organizations (e.g., UN, EU), human rights groups, civil society organizations, and diaspora communities.
- Engage with international media, providing interviews and statements to ensure accurate representation of Al Mezan’s positions and the situation in Gaza.
- Collaborate with Palestinian and international advocacy networks to ensure cohesive and coordinated messaging and action.

Policy Development and Research
- Draft policy briefs, reports, statements, and advocacy materials tailored to diverse international audiences to effectively communicate the organization’s positions.
- Ensure that all policy recommendations are evidence-based and aligned with international law and human rights frameworks.
3. Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree in International Law, International Relations, Political Science, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in international advocacy, policy development, or a similar role, ideally with a focus on international human rights and humanitarian law.
- Visa and Residency: We seek applicants with a nationality or residence permit allowing visa-free travel to EU Member States. Unfortunately, Al Mezan is not in a position to support the issuance of any type of visa for Palestinian ID holders.
- Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken English, with proficiency in Arabic, ideally as a native speaker. Knowledge of additional languages to engage with international stakeholders is a plus.

Skills:
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful advocacy strategies in international contexts.
- Deep understanding of international policymaking processes, particularly within multilateral institutions like the UN and the EU.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in drafting policy documents, reports, and other advocacy materials.

Desirable Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the applicable international legal framework in Palestine, particularly in Gaza.
- Experience working on Palestinian issues.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders at the international level, including diplomats, NGOs, and international bodies.

Al Mezan is offering a full-time contract and insight into the advocacy and legal work of a dynamic, progressive, and well-established Palestinian NGO.
