International Engagement Officer

WWT

About The Role

WWT is seeking a highly motivated engagement professional to drive forward our international
capacity building programme for wetland conservationists.

The role will provide you with a platform to make a major global contribution to the
conservation of nature. WWT knows the flood-busting, nature-boosting, carbon-sinking,
life-supporting superpowers of wetlands: but that message is not widely heard. And those
conserving and restoring wetlands are often isolated, lacking the resources, knowledge and
support needed to scale their impact. We want you to help us change that!

Within this role, you will be listening to practitioners, unblocking capacity barriers, and
building a community of highly effective wetland conservationists. You will open-up access
across the globe to networks, training, resources and advice – helping to achieve our ambition
of a network of 25,000 conservationists delivering impactful wetland conservation worldwide.

You will also represent WWT’s capacity building and engagement work on global platforms, such
as the Convention on Wetlands.

Ideally the role would be based at Slimbridge with the opportunity for hybrid working (2 days a
month in the office), but we would be happy to consider other locations. Please note there is a
need for some international travel to fulfil the requirements of this role.

About You

A natural communicator, you will have extensive experience in capacity building, a track-record
of great engagement plus passion and drive for nature conservation and all the superpowers that
brings.

We are looking for someone who is excited to lead a diverse portfolio of work, from developing
online capacity building hubs, to providing engagement advice to wetland centres. You’ll be
comfortable working in dispersed teams in a way that inspires genuine inclusion of all.

You will be a confident communicator and relationship builder, happy to represent WWT’s
capacity building and engagement work on the global stage, including at international
conferences. Above all, you’ll be focussed on delivery of solutions and making a lasting
difference.
