International Migration in Sports Coaching

About the Project

We are looking for highly motivated and dedicated PhD candidates who are interested in exploring international migration in sports coaching. As a candidate, you will have the opportunity to conduct a PhD project in the field of Sports Coaching/Pedagogy or Sociology of Sport, and contribute to the growing body of literature in this area.

This PhD project will investigate the dynamics of international coach migration. This includes examining the migration patterns of coaches, their experiences and challenges in different cultural and social contexts, and the impact of their migration on both the home and host countries. The project will aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects and issues surrounding international coach migration by considering the influences of sports policies/systems, organisational/institutional culture and societal values and norms.

Ideal candidates for this project may have a background in Sport Coaching/Pedagogy, Sociology (of Sport), Sport Management or related fields, with experience in using qualitative research methods. 1) Your CV, which highlights your educational qualifications and grades, and your (previous) experiences relevant to your PhD study. 

2) A research proposal (1,200-1,500 words), which should include a literature review, a clear research aim and research questions, a theoretical framework, methodology, significance of the study and a reference list.
