The role

Under the authority of the EU and international public affairs Director, the intern, will:

  • Support AFG’s strategy, objectives, projects and daily work at EU and International levels
  • Monitor EU and international affairs (both on political and regulatory sides)
  • Help to prepare and attend institutional and non-institutional meetings
  • Participate in the development of AFG’s outreach to insure efficient work with European and international policymakers, in particular EU institutions, as well as with other trade European associations (Efama, PensionsEurope,..) and sister national trade associations
  • The intern will be based in Brussels with potential trips to Paris and to other EU cities.

AFG in a few words

AFG represents the +700 asset management firms in France that invest over EUR 4,6 trillion in the economy on behalf of households, employees, pension funds, charities, corporates and public institutions.

For over more than 60 years, AFG defines the rules of ethics for the profession, actively contributes to the development of regulations and plays a leading role in corporate governance.

AFG is involved in long-term missions such as the taxation of savings and the competitiveness of the Paris place; the positioning of France on the European and international stages; sustainable finance and all ESG matters. It is committed to diversity, financial education and supports long-term savings to enable retail investors to be actors in the economy and recovery.

The AFG is chaired by Philippe Setbon. Fannie Wurtz is vice-president in charge of Europe and International, Mirela Agache Durand, vice-president in charge of ESG and long-term saving and Guillaume Dard, vice-president in charge of taxation and competitiveness.

Laure Delahousse is the General Director of AFG and Delphine de Chaisemartin is the Deputy General Director.

The EU and INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT

The Department consists in:

  • The Brussels team (4 persons), based in Brussels, who is responsible for AFG’s outreach to EU and international policymakers, peers and networks as well as implementing AFG’s government affairs strategy.
  • The International Promotion team, based in Paris, who is responsible for promoting Paris as a world-leading asset management center as well as to help AFG’s members grow their international business.

Profile

  • Very good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions. Specific knowledge of EU financial policy and regulatory landscape is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to exchange with people of different levels of responsibility to listen, understand and convince.
  • Written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently on various missions.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and French, knowledge of German, Italian, Spanish or any EU language appreciated.

Background

  • Degree in political science, economics, finance, international relations, law or other related fields

The OFFER
