Contract Duration

Interns are required to work full time for a period between three and six months (to be agreed to prior to commencement).

The Opportunity

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concerns to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crime of aggression. The Court is participating in the global fight to end impunity, and through the international criminal justice, the Court aims to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes and to help prevent the crimes from happening again. You can contribute to this cause by joining the ICC.

Organisational Context

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Division of Judicial Services, the Information Management Services Section ensures that the Registry puts in place adequate information management services, for the benefit of all organs and activities of the Court. The Information Management Services Section will also provide services to other Registry clients, including external parties relying on the policies and technology of the Court.

The International Criminal Court has a project to migrate contents from repositories to modern SharePoint environments.  As project is ongoing, we are currently looking for an individual who can work in the Information Management Office (IMO). The IMO is a team within the Information Management Unit (IMU) of the Information Management Services Section (IMSS) that focuses on delivering timely and efficient Information Management services to support the Court’s activities. Its objectives include managing Records and Document management applications and ensuring best practices. The IMO is responsible for maintaining and improving document management and governance processes and managing various strategic projects, including content migration and Information Management infrastructure.

The intern will be directly reporting to the Project Manager and will be supporting in the execution of the project activities. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the IMO team to:

  • Support in updating project documents such as project plan, issues list, risk register, etc.;
  • Assist in the coordination with relevant stakeholders where actions are required and help ensure that tasks are completed on time;
  • Test the new system
  • Organise and participate in project meetings;
  • Draft meeting minutes and project communications;
  • Support change management initiatives such as coordination of training to end users;
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Education:

All Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognised university. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.

Experience:

Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers therefore; practical experience is not an essential prerequisite for selection. However, practical experience that is relevant to the work of the Court may be considered an asset. 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Service-Oriented Attitude: Maintains a service-oriented attitude at all times, ensuring that the needs of project stakeholders and end-users are met effectively.
  • Interest in Information Management: Has a genuine interest in information management, particularly in the context of digital content migration and SharePoint environments.
  • Adaptability: Able to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments, working efficiently with diverse teams.
  • Teamwork: Possesses strong teamwork skills, including listening, consulting, and proactive communication to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates a good standard of computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Capable of meticulously updating project documents such as project plans, issues lists, and risk registers.
  • Organisational Skills: Organisational skills to assist engagement with stakeholders
  • Communication: Drafting skills for preparing meeting minutes and project communications.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to test new systems and identify potential issues, contributing to the overall success of the migration project.

Knowledge of Languages:

Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, is required. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration:

Please note that internship and visiting professional placements at the ICC are unfunded. The ICC is not able to provide participants in the Internship and Visiting Professional Programme with any remuneration, nor is it possible to provide reimbursement for expenses incurred prior, during or after the internship or visiting professional placement.

Applicants must therefore be able to support themselves for the entire duration of their internship or visiting professional placement.
