INTERNSHIP: Intern with Strategic Partnerships (10 weeks, full time) – GCA, NYHQ – Requisition# 571477

This internship supports the Global Strategic Partnerships Manager responsible for establishing new partnerships and maintaining ongoing collaborations with media, arts, gaming, sports, music and tv or film production companies.

The internship is also responsible for helping to identify new opportunities and developing creative approaches to partnerships that align with global advocacy priorities for child rights. By engaging with various stakeholders in the entertainment, media and digital industry, the intern aims to enhance the impact of advocacy efforts and increase awareness of critical issues affecting children worldwide.

In addition to contributing to the establishment of new collaborations and partnerships, the intern will also support the management of existing partnerships, as needed.

How can you make a difference? 

1. Support the Global Strategic Partnerships Manager with initiatives already underway with sports partners including:

1) the IOC: support on global communications and advocacy strategy with the International    Olympic Committee in line with existing collaboration work related to child safeguarding,

2.) the ICC: support the final edits and global sharing of the 4-year global partnership strategy         between UNICEF and the International Cricket Council, including alignment with the advocacy team for adolescent girls,

3.) Inter Miami CF: support the Partnership Manager on the creation of the global                  communications, advocacy, and resource mobilization strategy with UNICEF & Inter Miami.

 

Deliverables:

  1. The global comms & advocacy strategy is drafted and ready to propose to the IOC, in line with child rights and adolescent girls’ advocacy.
  2. A plan is in place to support and push UNICEF & ICC’s global Criiio4Good programme in Bangladesh for the Cricket World Cup, in support adolescent girls.
  3. The June session’s Global Partnership Strategy Framework is further refined and ready for global sharing by July/August.

By mid-August

 

2. Support the Global Strategic Partnerships Manager with initiatives with partners in TV/film & the arts including:

  1. Paramount, SONY, Warner Brothers/New Line Cinema, and relationships underway, as well as a a mapping of the landscape in the USA and globally for future pitching.
  2. American Museum of Natural History, Salone de Mobile, and budding relationships in the arts

 

Deliverables:

  1. Cause-related marketing campaigns supported, ensuring UNICEF’s advocacy messages are included in relevant and appropriate ways from PSA development to content creation ideas.
  2. Develop a map of Hollywood, Bollywood, UK and South Africa media partnership opportunities, aligned with UNICEF advocacy priorities and co-create a timeline for proposal development.
  3. Support the partnerships manager further initial discussions with two strong potential partners for advocacy including – American Museum of Natural History and its digital/worldwide capabilities to share education on climate change, as well as Salone de Mobile on ways this global arts forum can support humanitarian contexts.

By mid-August

3. Keep abreast of research trends and consumer insights in the media, arts, and entertainment industries as it relates to potential collaboration on UNICEF’s global advocacy work.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme in international relations, global studies, media or journalism or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Have good academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Additional consideration may be given for any past relevant experience.
