Internship with Asia Desk (6 months)

As the transformation of societies is first and foremost the responsibility of local players, its activities aim to strengthen their capacity for action and influence.

FIDH federates nearly 200 national human rights associations active in over 115 countries. FIDH is headquartered in Paris. The International Secretariat teams are present in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. They are structured into an Operations and Programs Department and an Advocacy Department, as well as Support Departments (Communications, Finance and Administration, Partnerships and Development, Human Resources).

We are recruiting a : INTERN Asia Desk (M/F)

The intern will take part in the development activities of the Asia Desk and provide support for the many projects underway. As part of a 4-strong team, he/she will be involved in the following activities, with a focus on West and South Asia (in particular Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives), for example :

  • Assisting in the preparation of research missions and judicial observation missions
  • Research and monitoring of human rights violations and political developments in the region
  • Drafting reports, advocacy documents, and communication tools (press releases, articles, etc)
  • Proofreading, editing, and translation of reports, publications and other internal documents
  • Providing occasional logistical and administrative assistance
  • Other tasks depending on needs and developments in the region

Requirements :

  • Currently studying for a Master’s degree in law, human rights, political science, international relations or similar.
  • Good knowledge of the region and political dynamics, particularly South Asia.
  • Previous experience in South Asia is an asset (internships, extra-curricular activities, travel, etc.).
  • Excellent writing skills in English (C1 level); good writing skills in French would be a plus.
  • In total agreement with the values at work in the FIDH International Secretariat (professionalism, respect, commitment, equality, integrity, participation, audacity), as well as with FIDH’s fight to defend the human rights of everyone, everywhere in the world, as set out in its statutes and through its publications, which can be accessed via its website: www.fidh.org.

Conditions :

  • Full-time internship (39 hours per week) based at the FIDH office in Brussels and partly telecommuting.
  • With internship or volunteer agreement.
  • Leave and time off in proportion to the internship period.
  • Meals and transport paid for, or bonus paid fo volunteer work

Start date : from 01/03/2025

Internship available : from March 2025 to September 2025

Duration of internship : 6 months
