JOB DESCRIPTION
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking applications from enthusiastic students who are looking to gain professional experience in the field of law under IWMI’s internship program. The internship will be based at IWMI’s headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
During this internship period, the intern will assist in the following areas:
- Support the day-to-day operations of the legal department.
- Assist in reviewing donor agreements and regulations.
- Summarize main compliance areas in donor agreements.
- Review and update all documents uploaded to the IWMI Legal/Intellectual Property intranet page.
- Compare laws from different jurisdictions where IWMI has regional/project offices.
- Draft legal disclaimers and materials for the digital tools and websites of IWMI.
- Develop checklists for trademark and patent registration processes.
- Prepare reports and materials pertaining to data protection, intellectual property and other related jurisdiction-specific laws relevant to IWMI’s regional/project offices.
Requirements
- Attorneys-at-Law Final Year or Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Benefits
IWMI will provide a monthly stipend to the selected candidate during the internship period.
The duration of the initial internship contract will be 6 months, with the possibility of extension for another 6 months based on performance, requirements of IWMI and the availability of funds. This is a nationally recruited internship and only citizens of Sri Lanka are eligible to apply.
