General Purpose:

Provide program leadership for the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) College pilot program, which has a primary mission to support students in the JAG high school program in meeting their career and postsecondary educational goals. The JAG College and Career Coordinator is responsible for program oversight, development and implementation, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, budget and data management and reporting, and employer, faculty and partner/stakeholder engagement for the grant-funded JAG College initiative within the Career Link office. The Coordinator provides leadership and supervision for the development and coordination of the JAG College professional development, employer networking and supportive services components. The Coordinator assists in the implementation of the programs recruitment plan for the Hamilton County campus and is responsible for participating in recruitment activities, both on- and off-campus.

Major Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

  • In collaboration and cooperation with the Recruitment department, Indiana Department of Workforce Development and Employlndy develops program goals and objectives that are in line with statewide initiatives and provides leadership in and/or carries out the implementation of these goals and objectives.
  • Develops and manages a budget, including student support, marketing, special events and staffing expenses.
  • Works with faculty, staff, and students to promote the value of diversity and an inclusive environment within the JAG College program and Ivy Tech as a whole.
  • Assists the Ivy Tech Foundation in the grant writing process when deemed appropriate and necessary.
  • In collaboration with program and campus leadership, identifies and effectively engages community stakeholders for student support and general programming needs.
  • Leads the design and implementation of the outreach and recruitment plan to maintain a constant pipeline of prospective students.
  • Supervise any part-time, work-study and/or clerical staff.
  • Orders and maintains purchase requisitions of learning community materials and supplies.

Student Affairs

  • Collaborate with JAG Specialists, teachers, counselors, and administrators at area high schools regarding students in their junior and senior years of high school to begin the process of relationship development to support the transition process to postsecondary education to the College.
  • Acts as primary support resource for students in the JAG College program.
  • Deliver services, either virtually or in-person or serve as liaison with Ivy Tech programs such as: information sessions, campus tours, admissions, assessment testing, advising, orientation sessions, registration, transcript, and financial aid resources for students and families in the Hamilton County campus recruiting area.
  • Use a facilitated online learning methodology (Ivy Prep) in which students engage in self-directed, computer-based modules that focus on developing skills in math, reading, and writing with one-on-one support so students. can develop the skills necessary to place directly into college level courses without taking additional remediation.
  • Track student progress, attainment and implement individual development plans as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Academic Advising office regarding specific student advising interventions.
  • Receives student inquiries related to support resources and guides directs students as appropriate.
  • Advocates for students in the JAG College program both with internal Ivy Tech employees and external stakeholders, when appropriate and within the guidelines of FERPA regulations.
  • Serves as a problem-solver and thought-partner with students to address their needs, concerns, and/or barriers to retention and completion.
  • Actively researches student support initiatives within the college for appropriate referrals and connections.
  • Operates beyond the surface-level answer/response for students within the JAG College program.
  • Embodies the spirit of intrusive advising models in student interactions.
  • Create a learning community (JAG Student Organization) among the students being served through this program that builds a sense of belonging and offers peer-to-peer mentoring and leadership development opportunities.

Evaluation & Data Management

  • Identifies and tracks program outcomes and indicators via the JAG National Data Base (e-NDMS) and appropriate Ivy Tech systems.
  • Ensures program design and strategy supports the overarching program goals and outcomes targets.
  • Monitors student data and provides monthly, quarterly and annual updates to the Employer Consultant and Director of Admissions.
  • Identifies and responds to opportunities for program growth and improvement.
  • Provides program data and results to DWD, Employlndy, and the Ivy Tech Foundation for use in grant reports and funding proposals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, student personnel, management, business, or related field required.
  • One to two years’ experience in educational programing serving diverse student populations (preferable secondary and/or postsecondary public institution).
  • Experience in teaching, counseling, advising, case management or workforce development.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and team building skills, the ability to be decisive, and provide leadership in a community college setting.
  • Must have the ability to work well with persons from various social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and familiarity with computerized records systems required.
  • Passion for seeing students succeed.

This is a grant-funded position. The annual salary is $44,111.88.
