The University of Aberdeen has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Analyst to join the Grampian Data Safe Haven (DaSH). DaSH, established in May 2012, is a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen and National Health Service (NHS) Grampian to process health and care data. DaSH is accredited and part of the Scottish Federated Network of approved safe havens. Our data partnerships enable scalable Scotland-wide research with demonstrated ability to replicate across the UK and Globally.

In this role you will be working at the cutting edge of health data science research supporting both internal and external customers in innovative analyses of a wide range of data. You will work in a team of Analysts responsible for the creation of study data sets derived and extracted from NHS health care and other data systems, anonymised and made ‘analysis ready’.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Analyst to join the Grampian Data Safe Haven. You should be educated to degree level or have relevant demonstrable experience. You should be familiar with importing and exporting data within an SQL server; a knowledge of SPSS and/or R would be advantageous. You should be comfortable writing both technical and user-focussed documentation.
You will be committed to working to high standards of open and reproducible science. An understanding of the Information Governance and Information Security requirements of working with personal and sensitive data within the United Kingdom, and working in a research environment (preferably in a secure data setting or trusted research environment) would be advantageous.
You should possess good analytical skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills enabling you to interact and collaborate with a broad range of people. Attention to detail and proactive communication are essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are a requirement alongside well-developed organisational skills.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 5, £30,619 – £34,314 per annum, with placement according to qualifications and experience.
