About ESTA

The European Smoking Tobacco Association E.E.I.G. (ESTA) is a Brussels-based trade association, representing the interests of 46 members, mainly made of European smaller and mid-sized manufacturers, distributors and importers of fine-cut (rolling) tobacco, pipe tobacco, traditional chewing tobacco and nasal snuff tobacco. ESTA also represents several national trade associations across the EU.

About the role

ESTA is looking for an Junior EU Policy Officer to reinforce the Brussels office. This role primarily focuses on research and developing argumentation papers to support engagement on a wide range of topics. You will also assist in executing ESTA’s programs in Brussels and liaising with our members in various Member States.

The responsibilities of the selected candidate will include among others:

  • Monitoring and analysing legislative and regulatory developments within the EU institutions and, when relevant, at national level;
  • Preparation of- and reporting on- internal and external meetings;
  • Development of advocacy material, including visuals, internal briefing documents and position papers;
  • Support in the management of ESTA’s Working Groups and programmes;
  • Supporting the office’s external communication (e.g. social media); and
  • Supporting the association administration.

About your profile

  • Eligibility to work in the EU, availability to start in September, and flexibility to travel occasionally;
  • University degree in a relevant field (European law/Politics, Political Science, etc.);
  • 1-3 years of relevant working experience with an EU institution, Brussels Consultancy, or “In-House” – corporate affairs role;
  • Fluency in English and a good command of at least one other EU language, preferably Polish (Czech or Slovak would also be a plus);
  • Good understanding of EU decision-making processes and the Brussels political landscape;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong analytical, networking and presentation skills; and
  • A service-minded and meticulous approach.
