JW McConnell Professor of Practice in Public Policy

The Max Bell School for Policy at McGill University invites applications for the J.W. McConnell Professor of Practice in Public Policy for the 2025/26 academic year. The position is open to experienced practitioners in all sectors, regions and areas of public policy. The ideal candidate will be a recognized policy practitioner with a history of accomplishment and with capacity to engage in the activities of the School, particularly the School’s Master of Public Policy (MPP) program.

This is a visiting position with a starting date of September 1, 2025, or later. The appointment is ordinarily for a four-month term (fall or winter), although this is negotiable. The position carries a generous stipend, commensurate with qualifications, the level of engagement with the School, and the duration of the appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the academic life of the School and be present in the School for the majority of the appointment. The candidate may mentor students, deliver workshops or webinars, or deliver public lectures.

Applicants must upload a curriculum vitae and a letter of intent indicating the preferred dates of their visit and summarizing their activities and objectives while at the School. The names and contact information of at least two referees must also be provided. A review of applications will begin December 10, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.
