Salary: From £95 per day and upwardsAbout the Role:
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for Psychology Graduates to begin or expand their career in education by working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a large, dynamic school for children with Autism and Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role provides invaluable experience for those looking to pursue careers in educational psychology, social work, or related fields.As a SEN Teaching Assistant focused on Autism and other special needs, you will support students on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping them to engage in their learning and personal development in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism, learning difficulties, and other special educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Promote the emotional, social, and academic progress of students by facilitating learning activities and encouraging positive behavior.
  • Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to deliver inclusive teaching methods.
  • Support students with their personal care needs, including mobility or medical assistance (training provided).
  • Observe and monitor students’ progress, keeping detailed records and providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes inclusion and respect.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology (or a related field) is ideal but not a deal breaker.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or SEN is advantageous but not required.
  • A passion for supporting children with additional learning needs and a strong desire to make a difference.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
