Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, Fox Contracts in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting and innovative employment opportunity for a dynamic and motivated graduate from a Civil Engineering/Architecture or related discipline to work on a project to develop ways to accurately track and report on whole life carbon emissions in company operations and construction projects, and establish a lower carbon supply chain with demonstrable metrics, to help clients address their net zero goals.This role is company-based and will be delivered in collaboration with the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s.The successful candidate will become part of a team within Fox Contracts. Fox Building & Engineering Ltd/TA Fox Contracts is a medium-sized enterprise founded in 1997, operating in the civil engineering sector. They undertake contracts from £2m to £20 million, with an annual turnover of £41m.Fox Contracts generate revenue by delivering landmark projects – roads and bridges, sports facilities and airfields, and other public realm infrastructure – to high standards across the UK and Ireland. They achieve this through intelligent, high-quality engineering using exacting solutions, solving complex problems for diverse clients.Information about the Company partner can be found at:About the personThe successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Hold at least a 2:1 Honours Degree in a construction related discipline (Civil Engineering, Architecture,Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction, etc). Note that a candidate with a 2.1 Honours Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or similar with significant experience in the construction sector will also be considered.
  • Demonstrable ability to undertake numerical calculations, such as modelling, calculation and quantitative andqualitative analysis at a reasonably high level.
  • Knowledge of carbon management policies*.
  • Knowledge of carbon modelling and/or accounting and best practice within the field*.
  • Understanding of BIM modelling processes and concepts.
  • Completion of a relevant research project or student placement. Applicants should indicate how theirexperience could be applied to this post.
  • Experience in working as part of a group or team.
