If so, we would love for you to come and work for Swansea Bay University HB.The Cardiology Department at Morriston Hospital, Swansea are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individuals to join their team to undertake a 6-month fixed term LAS ST3+ post from 7th August 2024 – 5th August 2025.Main duties of the jobAlthough this post is not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported.The successful candidate will be working together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will participate on the Full shift rota. Salary stated includes payment for banding supplement for full shift rota.About usSwansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University.   • MRCP Part 1 and MRCP(UK) full diploma by offer date
  • MM BS or recognised equivalent

Desirable

  • Full MRCP (UK) at the time of application
  • Higher degrees including MSc, PhD or MD (where the research thesis is not part of first medical degree)

ExperienceEssential

  • Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Up to date with current practices
  • Working as part of the management team
  • Teaching and training of post/undergraduate medical staff
  • Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing audit

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS/experience of NHS working practices and systems.

Skills & AbilitiesEssential

  • Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
  • Experience in the assessment of emergencies
  • Evidence of experience in a range of acute medical specialties, with experience of managing patients on unselected medical take during core training or equivalent
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate

  • Experience of managing patients with severe acute medical disease.
  • Experience at core level of managing patients with cardiovascular disease and managing cardiovascular emergencies
  • Evidence of some capabilities in the specialty as defined by the relevant curricula
  • Evidence of skills in the management of acute medical emergencies
  • Evidence of skills in the management of patients not requiring hospital admission
