This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
As a Lead Analytics Engineer, you will lead and establish the strategic foundations for analytics providing advanced professional knowledge and skills in the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of the administration, maintenance and securing of data stored in modern data platforms to realize the MN Department of Corrections (DOC) vision for managing data as an asset.
*This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last for up to three (3) years.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of technical experience working with modern and cloud-based data and analytics services.
Skills & Experience must include:

Expertise in writing and performance-tuning SQL queries and procedures.
-
Expertise in implementing data warehousing concepts such as data modeling, ETL pipelines, change data capture (CDC), etc.

Expertise in cloud-based data & analytics and ETL services.
-
Experience with git-based version control.
-
Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
-
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
-
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft/Azure data, analytics & BI services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, Power BI).

Experience with REST-based API services and/or Azure API Management.

Experience with CI/CD (GitHub or Azure DevOps).
-
Familiarity with Azure advanced analytics & machine learning services.
-
Familiarity with basic functions related to administering an Azure cloud environment.
