The Lead Education Nurse role is key to the business ability to provide a high level of clinical standards. The Lead Education Nurse will ensure that patients are managed as effectively as possible from a nursing perspective to support the profitability and further growth of the practice. Working enthusiastically with your team you will help maintain a happy, efficient working environment whilst providing outstanding patient and client care.

Working with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), the Lead Nurse – Education will identify areas of training development needs within the nursing team and ensure that nursing team education across the business is managed as effectively as possible.

Hours: Full time

Practice: Palmerston Vet Group, Buckhurst Hill

Rota: (40hrs/week) Mixture of early and late shifts Monday to Friday + 1:6 weekend shift

Salary: Up to £35,000 dependant on skills and experience held

We’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with at ideally two years post-qualification experience to join our team as a Lead Education Nurse and help our practice grow. As an ideal candidate, you would have excellent communication skills, be highly organised, and able to work comfortably with autonomy in a small but growing practice.

Lead Education Nurse responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Clinical Nursing Manager to help support the identification, prioritisation and implementation of learning, development and CPD for associates in the nursing team to include developing/using a skills matrix to highlight training gaps.

  • Ensure at the nursing team utilises centrally delivered and funded CPD and have oversight of CPD requests for external courses not on offer in Linnaeus.

  • Be aware and utilise the support that the VN Central Professional Development Team can provide in terms with group wide CPD provision, site level CPD, targeted Associates developments and career progression advice.

  • Work with the Clinical Nursing Manager to ensure that all new nurses entering the business are supported to complete their induction

  • All new SVNs/PCAs entering the business are supported to receive a Training Agreement and complete their induction.

  • Manage Training Practice (TP) approval and maintenance / on-going audits from the Primary Centre.

  • Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the RCVS Day One Skills and Competencies, and Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Nurses.

  • Work with the Linnaeus Pre-registration Experience Management Team and Clinical Nursing Managers to ensure utilisation of both college and university placements to suit the business needs.

  • Work with the Linnaeus Pre-registration Experience Management Team to ensure that eligible students are able to access the apprenticeship funding available.

  • Manage and support the SVNs to ensure they are only permitted to undertake Schedule 3 procedures that are aligned with their stage of education, and that have been approved by their course provider.

  • Manage and support Clinical Supervisors and Mentors to ensure they are appropriately trained and supported to carry out their role, receive allocated and protected time to carry out their role, receive allocated practice funding for standardisation and relevant training
