This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work. Remote employees are expected to have a dedicated, quiet and distraction-free work space and an internet connection that’s sufficient for completing their job remotely.

Job Summary

This position leads the financial guidance, direction and analytical support for all Global Costing inputs, reporting directly to the Global Costing Manager. It provides comprehensive financial support and analysis along with proactive recommendations for continuous improvements, decision making and corrections when needed. This position partners with Plant and Supply Chain Finance to inform multiple levels of the organization on costing drivers to help inform margin analytics. This position will act as a hands on player-coach in the costing space which will provide you with a unique opportunity to develop into a highly valuable asset to the company, leading to potential promotional opportunities in the future.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for being the subject material expert of all things costing at Harley-Davidson. Includes educating team members and stakeholders throughout the business on accurate data interpretation.
  • Provide support on many day-to-day ad-hoc requests from Senior Leadership and other business partners.
  • Participate in and oversee the accuracy of standard cost setting within our plants and across purchased components.
  • Lead the development and assist in the preparation of all budgets and forecasts for product cost related areas based on the financial planning calendar. This includes heavy involvement with the plants and procurement spaces with special focus on creating accurate absorption rates by area.
  • Lead the annual standard costing activities by managing timelines, defining prerequisite activities and tracking overall progress from start to finish.
  • Ownership of internal transfer pricing inputs for motorcycle sales.
  • Lead the monthly preparation of and assist with enhancements to the company’s global inventory reporting packages.
  • Provide monthly financial support to the business: Assure all standard cost variances are recording correctly, analyze actual vs budget standard cost variances to monitor the accuracy of our inventory valuation and record month end journal entries/accruals.
  • Train new analysts and managers throughout area of responsibility and provide any necessary guidance and direction.
  • Assume leadership responsibility as necessary, including being an advocate for new ideas and serving as an example for coworkers.

Bachelor’s Degree Required

Education Specifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is Required. A CPA or equivalent is desired.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years related work, specifically in the standard costing and plant finance space.
  • Personnel management/leadership experience is desired but not required. This role requires the ability to influence and educate others through clear and confident communication.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with standard costing concepts, specifically around Absorption, Burden Rate Setting and reviewing system results for accuracy.
  • Experience and understanding of how to read and interpret BOMs and Routings in regards to costing results.
  • Strong skills in the use of excel spreadsheets and ERP systems for the purpose of analysis, data extraction and financial modeling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter continuously looking for process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining the broader, analytical perspective
  • Excellent organizational skills – ability to balance multiple tasks under time constraints.

Preferred

  • SAP & BPC experience is preferred.
  • Automotive or consumer products industry costing experience would be a great benefit.
  • Strong attention to detail and a hunger to learn and grow will be key success attributes for the desired candidate.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
