Job Summary As a Sr Scrum Master, you will enable one or more multi-disciplinary agile teams at RBC Insurance to run a medium-to-high agile development process that seamlessly aligns with business and technical needs. The Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team as it removes any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its sprint goals and ultimately deliver a product that generates business benefits for one or several RBC lines of business. Scrum Masters play an important role in the long-term evolution of agile practices at RBC. Note that RBC Insurance is in a transition period in which we are working towards Agile adoption of 80%.
While we are working towards this role being a 100% Scrum Master role, in the near term, you may be asked to manage some Iterative Waterfall projects. In that case, you are expected to incorporate Agile principles, as appropriate.Job DescriptionWHAT WILL YOU DOFacilitating medium-to-high complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile practicesAccountable alongside the team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet stakeholders’ needs and expectationsRemove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of dependencies, team problem-solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; has the authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary.Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; Report team progress and accomplishment up and across, including risks and financials; facilitate product demos and retrospectives.Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum or Kanban team (e.g. tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment.Navigating and identifying shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objective.Provide proactive coaching to the team and recommends continuous improvement of processes to optimize team productivity, engaging coach as required.WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must-have2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Kanban Service Delivery Manager- where Scrum or Kanban principles, practices and theory were diligently applied5+ years of experience in software development and/or project management and/ or business (system) analysis or other relevant professional experience2+ years of working on medium-to-high complexity initiativesUndergraduate Degree or equivalent experienceCertified Scrum Master / Agile PractitionerNice-to-haveExperience working in the Financial/Insurance industryExperience with Iterative Waterfall methodologyWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUWe thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
