The missions

You will be responsible for contributing to the coordination of projects linked to supporting and strengthening the skills of international solidarity actors in cartography and data management. You will also be heavily involved in the CartONG initiative to strengthen NGO practices in data management (find out more here), coordinating activities linked to its resource centre, as well as training and coaching.

You will be responsible for designing teaching materials, supporting the implementation of training courses and ensuring the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of training programmes.

More specifically, your main responsibilities will be as follows:

Managing training projects

  • Establish professional relationships with partners, acquire an in-depth understanding of partners’ training needs and requirements
  • Coordinating, supervising and monitoring training project activities.
  • Act as a communication link between partners and internal teams and ensure team cohesion around the project.
  • To ensure that CartONG services are provided to partners in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Ensuring the administrative follow-up and reporting of projects, as well as their narrative and financial reporting if necessary.

Coordinating the CartONG resource centre

  • Manage the IM portal resource and its learning corner,
  • Coordinate the contributions of the technical teams that feed into these systems
  • Coordinate the promotion and dissemination of its content with the communications manager (mailing, newsletter, social networks, partners, etc.).
  • Contributing to responses to calls for tender and other consultations on the training/resource centre component.

Designing and supporting the design/production of training products

  • Assisting in the design of training programmes using teaching methods adapted to the specific needs of partners and learners.
  • To be a source of suggestions and advice for the teaching process: teaching theme, activities and methods, media, graphic intentions, tool constraints to be anticipated, etc.
  • Develop educational content such as presentations, case studies, training materials, videos, quizzes and exercises, with the support of the technical teams as required.
  • Leading educational brainstorming sessions, working closely with business experts to help them with design or to gather information and feedback for content creation.

Contribute to the development of teaching and digital learning at CartONG

  • Supporting the skills development of trainers and designers: training in tools and teaching methods, workshops, transfer of know-how, etc.
  • Educational intelligence and digital learning: Keeping up to date with trends and best practice in educational design and learning. Propose, promote and support the deployment of such solutions.
  • Participating in the ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of CartONG training programmes, by collecting data, analysing the results and suggesting improvements.

Profile required

Previous experience

You will have experience in leading, designing and managing adult training projects. Experience in the international solidarity sector and/or in data management would be a distinct advantage.

Language skills

Excellent written and spoken French and English.

Skills

  • You are familiar with the concepts of learner engagement and motivation, as well as the main learning theories.
  • You have experience in leading, designing and managing training projects
  • You are familiar with the main digital learning tools and technologies (particularly open source)
  • Curiosity, innovation and creativity are assets for this position
  • You are recognised for your rigour, organisational skills and leadership.

Job specifications

Contract type : Fixed-term contract, 12 months (CDD)

Start date : As soon as possible in September, subject to the availability of the successful candidate.

Location : Either at the association’s head office in Chambéry, with the possibility of remote working up to 3 days a week, or 100% remote working in mainland France.

Salary : Based on salary scale and experience (see more)

Other advantages : Supplementary health insurance covered at 61% by CartONG; Provident scheme covered at 100%; The possibility of working remotely from abroad for a few weeks a year.
